"We have a chance to enter the NASCAR Busch event on April 7th. in Nashville, TN.  The #28 team has a spare motor they would be willing to let us borrow if we pay to refresh it after the race. Bottom line is that between a motor lease, travel expense, tire bill, Labor, etc... you normally would be looking to spend between $40,000 - $45,000... we could try to qualify for this event for much less ($12,000 - $15,000). This would help us get more exposure for the racing program for a lot less of an investment. Let me know what you think.

This is the first real opportunity for The American Legion Freedom Car to race this year.  There are a lot of positives to this race:

• travel costs are lower because of the distance from Mooresville, NC to Nashville, TN
• the cost for the engine lease is three times cheaper then what it would normally cost
• this is a very popular track on the BUSCH circuit
• qualifications and race will be televised live Nationwide
• not an ARCA race, thus more interest and exposure at the National level
• over 80,000 fans in attendance
• about 60 million, that is with an "M," watch BUSCH
  

All that is good, but most of all The American Legion will be shown as a Moving Billboard; a billboard that will be moving close to 180 mph.  Imagine that, for a small invest of $15,000 The American Legion will be seen by millions of fans.  If every department would purchase a billboard advertisement on their busiest intersection in their State for only a weekend I know the cost would be well over $15,000.  We will be getting exposure to a group of people who time and again show their patriotism through singing the National Anthem before every race.
